FAA Approves Hundreds of Drones for Lady Gaga's Halftime Show at the Super Bowl

Lady Gaga's performance tonight at Super Bowl 51, will feature hundreds of lit up drones.

She is being hush-hush about the whole performance but we do know the drones will be forming shapes above the crowd while LED lights create amazing color displays. This will be the first time drones have been used on live television. The drones are supplied by Intel and they have been raving about their Shooting Star GPS-controlled drones that are fitted with advanced LED lights (they can create more than 4 billion color combinations.) -

To fly multiple drones at a time requires a waiver from the Federal Aviation Administration under Part 107. The waiver was granted and the FAA has also put temporary flight restrictions within a 34.5-mile radius of NRG Stadium from 4 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, February 5th for security and safety reasons.

Intel also supplied the development of this drone light show at Walt Disney during the 2016 Winter Holiday season.
